Notice: Claims for mailboxes damaged by street snow clearing operations should be submitted to the Town Clerk and must contain proof of damage and receipt of expenses. Reimbursement limit is $55. Claims must be submitted by April 1, 2025.
Notice: DPW's annual roadside brush removal program will commence on Monday April 7, 2025. Maximum brush size is 4-inch diameter and 6-feet in length. Brush must be bundled and tied with twine and bundle sizes manageable by one person. All brush must be placed roadside before the collection begins, as DPW will not return to areas that have already been serviced.
Duties Performed:
1. Roads:
- Clean, repair and/or install drainage and catch basins.
- Pave, chip seal, reconstruct and patch roads and pot holes.
- Plow and salt and removal of snow.
- Remove snow from Town-owned sidewalks and parking lots.
- Repair and/or install curbs (bituminous only).
- Roadside mowing, pavement markings and street sweeping.
2. Maintenance of Parks and Buildings:
- Maintain Town Hall, Historic Railroad Station, Parks & Rec, Senior Center, SCOW/STEM, Animal Control and Armory buildings..
- Maintain all parks, Town-owned open space and Quinnipiac River Linear Ttrail.
- Set up viewing stands, linestripe athletic fields, hang banners, decorate Town for Christmas and Memorial Day and set up for Town events.
3. Solid Waste & Recycling:
- Spring brush, Fall bagged leaf and Christmas tree (January) pickup programs.
- Issue senior citizen permits and coupons.
- Oversight of solid waste/ recycling center and compost center.
- Spring cleanups.
- Recycling, Composting & Waste Disposal for Wallingford Residents
4. Other:
- Assist sheriff with evictions.
- General trash removal from Town properties, only.
- Maintenance of Fire, Police, Public Works Department and car pool vehicles.
- Tree and stump removal on Town property.
- Removal of downed limbs for Town roads.

Inflow and Infiltration (I & I) are essentially clean water that enters into the sanitary sewer from public and private sources.
