Yale University Police Officer Gregory Swiantek Funeral Details

On March 12, 2025, Yale University Police Officer Gregory Swiantek passed away unexpectedly. A line-of-duty death funeral will be held at Oakdale Theatre (95 South Turnpike Road) on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at noon.

Significant traffic disruptions and road closures will occur in the Oakdale Theatre area and along the funeral procession route. We kindly ask motorists not associated with the event to avoid the South Turnpike Road area. Road closures will begin around 11:00 AM and may last for several hours.

2025 Neighborhood Assistance Act Program

The Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) Tax Credit Program is a State program administered by the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) that is designed to provide funding for municipal and tax-exempt organizations by providing a corporation business tax credit for businesses who make cash contributions to these entities.

The DRS has opened up the 2025 NAA Program for proposals and tax exempt entities and municipal agencies desiring to obtain benefits under the NAA Program must complete Form NAA-01, Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act Program Proposal, Parts I, II, and III and submit the form to the Town of Wallingford by May 23, 2025. BRUSH PICKUP INFORMATION

Residents of Wallingford will have their brush only picked up by the Public Works Department, starting Monday April 7, 2025. All brush to be picked up should be placed at the curb, no later than Sunday, April 6, 2025, tied with twine, separately, in small bundles.

No brush more than 4 feet long or 6 inches in diameter will be accepted.

Branches or brush not tied will NOT be picked up.

Items placed at curb must be light enough for one person to put in a truck.

This is a one-time-only pickup, in all sections of Wallingford. The Department of Public Works will not go back to any street that has already been picked up. Those residents who miss the pickup may take their brush to the Compost Center on John Street at no charge.

Mayoral Proclamation: Patrick Foley Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365 2025 'Irish Person of the Year'

Pat became a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1365 in Wallingford at the age of 19; and over the past 19 years, Pat has dedicated numerous hours volunteering at many Lodge events. He has served as the chairman of the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Trunk or Treat and the Children's Christmas Party. He is also an active member of the Lodge House Committee supporting the Chair by attending meetings several times per month.

We are pleased that the Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365 is honoring Patrick Foley as the recipient of the 2025 "Irish Person of the Year" Award. We thank him for his many contributions to our community and wish him the best in all the years ahead.

Mayoral Proclamation: Adam Jackson Day - March 7, 2025

Master Sergeant Adam Jackson began his military career in the U.S. Army National Guard in January of 2002. In 2004, he was deployed to Iraq. Four years later he was then deployed to Afghanistan; and while in Afghanistan in June of 2008, Jackson was injured by bullet shrapnel in a firefight with the Taliban. In February of this year, Master Sergeant Jackson was awarded First Sergeant of the Year and also received a Purple Heart.

The Town of Wallingford is extremely thankful for Master Sergeant Adam Jackson and his 23- year commitment of service to our country. His years of sacrifice are greatly appreciated.

Wallingford Seasonal Emergency Shelter to Reopen February 24th Through Collaborative Community Effort

The Wallingford Seasonal Emergency Shelter will reopen on Monday, February 24, after a temporary closure due to a 10% reduction in the State Cold Weather Budget, thanks to the swift action and collaboration of community partners.

Upon learning about the shelter’s closure, local organizations and supporters came together to develop a funding strategy to resume operations.
